My slogan is “Clients deserve only the best”, and by this I mean:

  • Listening carefully to the client. Only when the translator knows exactly the client’s wishes is he/she able to produce a translation that best meets the needs of this client.
  • Working with accuracy to achieve a faithful transfer of the contents of the original text to a translation. Therefore, to each translation I devote the necessary time and effort it requires, always within the limits imposed by delivery deadlines.
  • Painstakingly proofreading the translations before delivery, to be sure that there are no mistakes of any kind, that the final text is homogeneous and logical and that its linguistic quality is optimal. I also check and ensure that the translation meets the requirements established by the client, that it is adequate for the recipient and that it fulfills the expected communicative intention.
  • Accepting only those projects for which I am professionally qualified. This implies translating exclusively into my mother tongue (Spanish) those texts I am familiar with both from the thematic and terminological point of view. If my specific knowledge is not sufficient, I do a broad research about the subject to gather the necessary information and be able to make a confident approach to the text. If I am not familiar at all with the thematic and terminological features of the document, I reject the assignment or contact another professional translator who can do a good job. In this way, the client will always have the guarantee that the translation is professional and reliable.
  • Strict compliance of delivery deadlines.
  • Absolute confidentiality.

To this I add a sound academic background and great self-motivation in my work, this all resulting in a well-done job.
Besides, I have the help of several resources that contribute to a quicker and more efficient performance of my task.

More advantages for the client:

  • Convenience: the order is sent by e-mail.
  • Quickness: in less than 24 hours you will receive a detailed, non-binding estimate for your project.
  • Personalized attention: each client is unique, and so is the attention I pay to them. As important as the quality in the translation is the quality in the service. Clients can contact me at any moment of the day in a quick, comfortable and easy way. Read more...
  • Privacy: from the very moment a client contacts me, all his information is dealt with strict confidentiality.
  • Quality: as a professional translator with a specific educational background, I guarantee an optimal quality in my work. Read more...

The translation process

Generally speaking, the translation process comprises the following stages:

1)
Translation: a first draft into the target language is prepared from the source text in the original language.

2) Editing (content):
every sentence of the translation is compared with the original text in order to detect possible mistakes and check whether:

- The whole text has been translated.
- The text has been translated correctly.
- The appropriate terminology has been used.

If necessary, the first draft of the translation is corrected and improved.

3) Proofreading (formal aspects):
it consists in reading exclusively the final text (the translation) in order to check and detect possible mistakes as regards:

- spelling
- punctuation
- grammar
- coherence
- style
- format (bold, italics, underlining, capital letters, division into paragraphs, etc.)
-
numbers, dates and other key data

If necessary, the second draft of the translation is corrected and improved.

Depending on the type of text and on the client’s needs, it is also possible to hire another external translator or editor/corrector to do an additional proofreading of the translated text.

How long does it take to do a translation?

In the majority of cases, my working capacity per day usually ranges from 2000 to 2500 words. This means that, in a normal working day (about 8 hours), I am able to translate properly this number of words. However, depending on the difficulty of the text (subject, format, etc.), that number is likely to increase or decrease. Likewise, when setting a delivery date for a translation it is important to take into account not only the time to do the translation itself, but also the time needed to solve eventual doubts or problems, to do a careful review of the text and, if necessary, to adapt the format. Therefore, the most recommendable in order to obtain a product of quality is to set a reasonable delivery deadline that allows carrying out the whole translation and reviewing process with ease and paying attention to details.
