In order to do a good translation work it is not enough to have a good dictionary or to speak several languages. Guaranteeing a minimum quality in a translation does not only imply knowing the language of the source text, but also a perfect command of the target language and very good writing skills. For this reason, the most recommendable is to work with professionals who translate exclusively into their mother tongue.

Apart from the essential language skills, the translator must master other extra-linguistic knowledge. Among other things, a good translator must be familiar with the topic of the original text in order to understand it in depth and thus be able to transfer its content precisely. Thus and for example, it is not possible to translate accurately a legal text if the translator has not the slightest idea about law. If this knowledge is not sufficient (we should be aware of the fact that it is impossible for a translator to be an expert in all areas), it is fundamental to do some research to gather the necessary information that will lead to a correct text translation.
